Your own Akkuschule for you as …

  • Skilled staff

Young talent and career changers get to know you – and you develop your own people.

  • Market access

You can reach people you cannot get to today: across the country, in new industries, out in the field.

  • Customers

Participants can become customers, and courses can become revenue.

  • Prestige

The name sounds like a first-rate address. A head start in trust – before the first course even begins.

  • Neutrality

There is no company in the name. Hardly anyone thinks of advertising. Teaching opens doors that would otherwise stay closed to a company.

  • Insight

Those who train are the first to learn where things go wrong in practice: which questions come up, which mistakes happen.

A perfectly ordinary house

One after another, twenty battery-powered items light up: smartphone, headphones, smartwatch, power bank, laptop, electric toothbrush, shaver, tablet, remote-controlled car, bedside lamp, Bluetooth speaker, robot vacuum, cordless vacuum cleaner, cordless screwdriver, e-bike, robotic lawnmower, outdoor camera, electric car, home battery and finally a solar string of fairy lights in the garden, whose four colourful bulbs come on one after another.

Twenty battery-powered items in a single household.

Batteries found 20 in a single household.

Batteries are everywhere. Knowledge about them – not yet.

A day in the life of a home battery

At night the state of charge falls from around 30 to 15 per cent, because the house lives off the battery. From the morning the sun charges it fully by early afternoon, and it stays full until the evening. Then it falls overnight back to around 30 per cent — the day ends where it began.

The energy transition needs storage. So does self-sufficiency. Storage needs knowledge.

Cell cut-away

Cut-away cylindrical lithium-ion cell with fanned-out electrode layers and two explanatory side diagrams.
Structure of a cylindrical lithium-ion cell. A sample for this page, not teaching material. Labels in German.

On the left, the cut-away cylindrical cell: the positive terminal as the cap, beneath it the safety vent, sealing ring and insulation, the cell casing typically made of nickel-plated steel, and the base as the negative terminal. The tab at the positive terminal is made of aluminium and connected to the cathode; the one at the negative terminal is made of nickel or nickel-plated copper and connected to the anode foil. In the middle the wound stack fans out: graphite, copper foil, graphite, then the microporous separator, then cathode material, aluminium foil, cathode material and a second separator. The active materials are coated on both sides. The electrolyte, a conducting salt in an organic solvent, wets the porous electrodes and the separator and carries the lithium ions. Top right, a side diagram shows where the lithium ions and the electrons travel during charging and discharging; bottom right, the material structure of graphite, separator and cathode material.
